Framing the Future

Reconnecting with Ethos, Vision and Values

What is an organisation without a sense of where they are going and what they value to guide them to their destination? Without an agreed ethos, vision and set of values, purpose and intent can be lost and dissatisfaction and disaffection can fester. Teams and individuals can start to question what the organisation is about: ‘Are we just here to produce grades?’ ‘Are we just about the profit?’ ‘Are we only concerned with numbers?’ Motivation and performance can be adversely affected.

This facilitated session will allow your team to discuss and reconnect with the core ethos and values of your organisation and agree actions and behaviours to embody them by agreeing a collective vision that guides all their efforts, planning and decision-making. This session can be a launch pad for better team working and a greater sense of collective endeavour across the whole organisation.

Key areas that will be explored:

  • What are we about and what do we want to achieve?
  • Where are we starting from as an organisation?
  • Options moving forward and the obstacles that might be encountered.
  • What actions, behaviours and attitudes do we have to change?

This is not a preset course; the Learn Spark facilitation team will meet with senior leaders in advance to discuss and agree key messages and the direction of the session.

Strengthening Partnership Working

Supporting Collaboration

In an atmosphere of limited budgets the need to collaborate with other organisations to share ideas, resources and funding has never been greater. However, working with an organisation that has a different ethos, vision, values and objectives will not always be straightforward.

Over the years organisations in the education, charitable and business sectors have benefited from Learn Spark’s expert independent guidance in hosting these meetings. Our facilitators provide a comfortable forum for the leadership of partnering organisations to agree their collective objectives and working arrangements. We help break down barriers, ease communication and support the building of strong relationships.

Key areas that will be explored:

  • Ethos, vision and values – where do they align?
  • Agreeing aims, objectives and success criteria.
  • Discussing working and communication arrangements.
  • Red flagging potentially difficult and challenging areas.
  • Setting out an overview plan with timescales and milestones.

Releasing Stakeholder Voice

Informing Strategic Planning

To lead and govern effectively you need to know your organisation. Engaging with stakeholders is an essential part of fully understanding the strengths and weaknesses of an organisation. If done correctly, soliciting the views of stakeholders as part of a self-evaluation process will inform strategic planning and direction setting and ultimately support better decision-making.

Most organisations would agree that it is important to listen to the voices of those affected by their actions; however, not many organisations do this consistently or comprehensively enough. For a lot of organisations it is a superficial exercise with questionnaires and the odd focus group. Consequently, the information gathered is of limited use and leads to questions surrounding the relevance of the exercise.

Our facilitators are trained in the use of tools, methods and approaches that will elicit clear views and opinions from your key stakeholder groups. We can present you with a detailed independent report with identified themes and conclusions that will inform and empower your organisation’s next moves.

Team Energy

Building and Motivating Teams

You know that the key to your organisation’s success rests with how well the people and teams within it know and trust each other. The better they work together – sharing ideas, encouraging and supporting each other – the stronger the outcomes will be, but in the demanding and competitive environment in which we all work, temperatures can rise, relationships can be strained and trust can deteriorate. Your collective endeavour, mission, vision and goal can be lost in a pool of exhaustion and frustration.

Teams need time to reconnect at a collective and personal level. They need time to talk, laugh and even play together. These opportunities have proven to bring teams closer together and improve their communication, productivity, creativity and generosity towards each other. Team-building days can serve to remind everyone that they are part of something greater than themselves; part of a team all working to a common vision and set of goals.

The Team Energy session is perfect for lifting the mood and morale of staff and bringing them together as a team. During this fun and highly interactive workshop, as well as playing together, your staff will learn about the essential ingredients of a successful team: adaptability, good communication, creative problem-solving and collective decision-making along with looking at self-confidence and resilience.

Key areas that will be explored:

  • The key components of successful teamwork.
  • The importance of the individual to the collective whole.
  • How to communicate better with each other.
  • How to create trust among the team.
  • The importance of recognising individual strengths, styles and skills.
  • Ways to support and encourage each other.
